COLUMN STRENGTHENING

155 Clarence St, Sydney

Through recommendations from Engineers and Sika Australia, SlabTec Pty Ltd was given the task of strengthening the columns using the Sika Wrap 230C system on an internal column in the main lobby area that needed to maintain it’s heritage look.

Even though the capacity of most columns needed to be upgraded by using more conventional methods of reinforced concrete jackets. There was the need to maintain the original heritage listed look of the main entrance foyer. This presented the challenge of providing additional capacity to the structure. The solution was to wrap columns using FRP fabrics over there entire length and leaving then finished with a textured coating which would allow for rendering to restore the columns to their original architecture.
